Today's Meet: February 25th
Just a reminder, here are our basic rules for Today's Meet:
- Use your first name. No last names, no nicknames. The two Josephs can use Joe Mi and Joe Mac.
- There is no talking during a Today's Meet session. All communication is done in the Today's Meet room.
- Use the @ symbol (shift key + 2) to speak to someone. For example, if you want to say something to Mr. St. Pierre you would start your writing with @StP- and then type your message.
- Each message can be 140 characters only.
- All comments and questions in the Today's Meet room must stay on topic. No comments or remarks that draw your peers off task.
Today you will be watching a short video on the Holocaust titled "Holocaust: A Dark Moment in Human History". This video will give you some background information that should help you to understand the book Number the Stars a bit better. We will start that book this week.
Click here to access the second video that we will be watching today. It will help us deal with one of the themes that we will discuss in Number the Stars.
Here are the questions we will be answering and discussing in Today's Meet to accompany these videos today:
- What type of government did Germany have under Adolf Hitler?
- What does the word "persecuting" mean?
- In 140 characters or less describe what the Holocaust was.
- Is it ever okay to lie?
- Share what your thoughts are after viewing these two videos? Are you looking forward to the book Number the Stars?
** You may wish to use some of the following abbreviations in your writing today to save characters in Today's Meet. **
NTS- Number the Stars
Holo- Holocaust
AH- Adolf Hitler
Ger- Germany
gov't- government

The Christopher J. Malvetti Fund
I have decided to charge money for this event in order to raise money for various local charities. Last year we raised over $500 for the Comsewogue for Children Foundation. This year all proceeds collected will go to benefit The Christopher J. Malvetti Fund. You can read about the fund by clicking on the link. This is a charity close to the hearts of our class, as Christopher Malvetti's sister is a substitute in our school and has been a tremendous help in our classroom. More information on the date and time of our premiere will be forthcoming.
